My path in direct selling began 27 years ago when I founded a direct selling company with just $5000 and a huge vision to change the lives of thousands of people. I'll even tackle the toughest part of the interview… the CLOSE!

You will be amazed by this strategy for uncovering where your prospect are emotionally and then moving them into the perfect "next step" so that follow up is comfortable and leads to a YES more often.

As I've shared already, WHO you are being on a daily basis is the single greatest determinant of your success in direct selling. Especially today, people are saying yes to you just as much as they are saying yes to your product and company. How do I know these four steps really work? Aside from helping the individuals you met earlier... and hundreds of others who have worked with me...

I also know this at a deep, personal level. In fact it's my story too...

How I Went From Clueless to Triumphant!

It was 1987. I had just graduated with a Masters in International Business when I discovered this thing called direct selling. Instantly I saw it for the brilliant business  it was. I was able to fulfill my lifelong dream of owning my own business and as a bonus I was able to help others do the same.

So my husband Mario and I took $5000 that we had saved for my wedding ring and started our first business – a party plan company offering a line of beautiful jewelry.  Only one challenge… I was clueless! I didn't know a thing about direct selling… how to book parties, coach hostesses, sell product or sponsor team members. 

Even worse, I had this inner voice constantly questioning…  "Really Jane… you got your Master's in Business for this - to schlep product to someone's home to see if they want to buy anything?"  It was not a kind voice and it shook me to my core.
Yet my heart knew something my head didn't - that this was where I belonged. I was meant to do something significant in this world of direct selling and I was determined to figure out how to do it.

So armed with my "home spun" marketing materials and product made by my husband, step-by-step, party-by-party, I set out to learn the ins and outs of this business. I learned to book, coach, sell and sponsor like nobody's business. Fast forward 13 years later, Mario and I had built our little enterprise to a few million in annual sales and over 400 sales Consultants.  It was time to move on so we passed the business on to someone who could grow it into adulthood.

Why do I share this?

Because my story is your story! There was not even a shred of evidence that starting my business was a good idea. The only evidence I had was the fire in my belly and the knowing  I would not be given a vision if I also wasn't given the gifts to make it come to pass.

I took my keen sense of business, my education and my "street smarts" that I gained from the trenches and built a million dollar business.

But I didn't stop there.

I went on to consult within the direct selling industry for the next few years, took a short 6 month break to start a company for a graduate school friend, which culminated in a record-breaking appearance on a national shopping channel where we launched the product line.

Then, not long after that, I was invited to be one of three co-founders of an association for Direct Selling women around the world. While serving as President of that organization for 6 years, I had the privilege of working with the industry's most respected and successful leaders.  Through them I expanded my understanding of what it takes to be successful in direct selling. I then helped showcase this collective knowledge as the lead writer for two industry books, Build It Big and More Build It Big.

One common thread no matter where I went…

Throughout those 25 years in direct selling what astounds me is this… whether it was my story of growing my first company or the story of a top earning leader in a well-known company... we all get stopped by the Inner Game of Success at one point or another.

The key is in having the strategies and insights to move through the blocks into a more empowered place where we can take the action we are led to take.
